Red-Hot Rims

Begonias in front of my studio

This is a cropping of a larger photo I took soon after noon. The sun was very bright. It was hard to find anything that wasn’t bathed in full sun. I chose these flowers as my subject for Blogging University Photography II: Assignment 1 – “Warmth” Exploring use of sunlight: front lit or side lit… I chose these blooms and their leaves because I thought while the petals looked hot, the leaves also looked quite warm with their red tips. It’s the contrast of cheery cherry-pink-red against chartreuse that makes me see heat, or rather intensive heating; it’s the progression that is captivating.
